With the release of the 2-1176, UA once again put that sound into your rack but with twice the tone, twice the character and twice the compression-- at an unbelievable price, and half the space. As you would expect from UA, it also retains all the features and trademark sound of its ancestor, and switches easily between dual mono and stereo link.

You can get some tone out of this gear. With digital recording, sometimes a completely transparent compressor is not the answer. However it can do both, be transparent or pump the sound. A tube pre plus this unit can get rid of that digital edginess. An inexpensive compressor can pump the sound too, but your never 100% satisfied. You always get that squashed processed sound. The 1176 does it more naturally, giving drums/bass that punch and keeping guitars/vocals under control yet defined. You'll use this on every track.
